This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for quantitationof PEth 16:0/18:1 in LC/MS or GC/MS applications. PEth 16:0/18:1, also known asphosphatidylethanol 16:0/18:1, is a sensitive and specific biomarker foralcohol use and abuse. Since the detection window of PEth 16:0/18:1 in blood islonger than that of ethyl glucuronide (EtG) or ethyl sulfate (EtS) in urine,measurement of blood PEth 16:0/18:1 level is routinely performed in clinicaltoxicology and forensic testing applications such as abstinence monitoring andworkplace drug testing. PEth 16:0/18:1 has also been investigated as abiomarker to confirm prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE).
