Over the years, stable isotopes and mass spectrometry have emerged as important tools for metabolic research, nutritional studies, molecular biology, proteomics, drug discovery and protein structural analysis. These non-radioactive isotopes are well documented in the scientific literature as safe and effective probes for the in vivo investigation of biochemical pathways.

Cambridge Isotope Laboratories Inc. (CIL) has developed a comprehensive inventory of products used in metabolic, protein, nucleic acid or other biochemical research. These include labelled carbohydrates, amino acids, fatty acids, triglycerides and their biosynthetic precursors or metabolites (many of which are available as metabolic grade or sterility and pyrogenicity tested material), cell growth media, uniformally and specifically labelled nucleosides and nucleotides, protein NMR standards and buffers. BioExpress 1000 - a fully-rich medium made from algal hydrolysate for bacterial expression systems, containing amino acids, peptides, nucleic acids, sugars, salts, vitamins and a variety of macronutrients. No spiking is necessary. Bio-Express-1000 may itself be used as a supplement to minimal media for economical production of labelled protein.

Silantes E.Coli-OD2 - a medium made from bacterial hydrolysate, containing primarily amino acids, low molecular weight oligopeptidesand almost no carbohydrates. The bacterial strain used is a chemolithoautotrophic organism which grows on inorganic substrates that are isotopically labelled.

BioExpress-Min - a fortified minimal medium for economical expression in bacterial systems. Bio-Express-Min delivers more than double the growth seen in traditional minimal media, and usually no further augmentation of the media is necessary.

BioExpress 2000 - a fully-rich, serum-free medium for insect cell growth and the Baculovirus Expression Vector System (BEVS).

BioExpress YBN - a fully-rich medium derived from yeast biomass for high expression yields of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic proteins in E. coli and yeast.

Silantes Yeast-OD2 - a medium made from bacterial hydrolysate for the expression of eukaryotic proteins.

BioExpress 6000 - currently under development, this medium will be ideal for mammalian cell culture.

MonoExpress 1500 - A fully-rich isotope-depleted medium, made from a yeast cell hydrolysate.

Labelled Amino Acids - a comprehensive range of amino acids labelled with 15N, 13C and D.
